Ron began his long and illustrious career with the Pain ville City Schools, where he served as music director of the city's music department and as music director for a number of local schools.
He gave violin lessons to about twenty students, most of them young girls as young as five. His passion followed him as a band leader at Walnut Middle School and as an assistant to the marching band at Harvey High School.
In 1968 he received a BS in Music Education from Indiana University in Pennsylvania and then worked at Cleveland State University. He received his Master's degree in 1969 from the University of Michigan and a B.A. in Music Education in 1971. He graduated in Education and Music Education from Ohio State and Ohio University, where he was an organist. Ron founded Traces, led the band, contributed his own talents on saxophone and keyboard and was also keyboarder of the Steppin 'Band from 1991 to 2001. While wintering in Florida, Ron joined the Florida Symphony Orchestra as a saxophonist, a member of the US Army National Guard, and created and contributed to the "Traces." He was an active member and co-founder of Ohio United for Peace and Freedom, an independent music organization.
The festival presents around 150 artists and vendors selected by a jury to present their works. The Big Band Sound of Traces entertains other music lovers with performances by some of the best country and country music bands in the world, including the founders of the Country Music Hall of Fame, John Prine, George Strait, Hank Williams Jr., and George Jones, to name a few. The fair is also the venue of a tractor pulling competition and a concert by a large band, which gives the town its name.
Concord Community Days is a unique family celebration planned and presented by the residents of Concord Township. The Willoughby Arts Festival is sponsored by several local businesses and presented by the Willougby County Chamber of Commerce.
It features works by local and regional artists that transform the Veterans Park tree - lined sidewalks - into an outdoor art gallery. For children, there is an interactive experience designed for children and families to discover fun and art, sponsored by the City of Painesville. Other activities for children include face painting, crafts, games and games. There is also a variety of arts and crafts activities for all ages, including children's activities, food trucks, vendors, live music and more.
Celebrating Irish heritage and culture, Celtic Festival offers music, dance, food and drinks for all ages. Located in the heart of Painesville, just a short walk from the Ohio State University campus, the festival features a variety of food trucks, vendors, live music and entertainment, and a beer garden that is open throughout the event. Ohio Notes: "Presented by the Art Museum of Ohio and the University of Akron Museum, this festival is a place for emerging and young local musicians to play while established jazz greats such as John Coltrane, Billie Holiday, Buddy Guy and more perform.
This six-day event features a variety of food trucks, vendors, live music and entertainment, as well as a beer garden. Ohio Notes: "Over 30,000 wine and food lovers travel to Lake Metroparks Farmpark to sample exceptional regional wines, learn about the region, sample an incredible selection of fine dishes and enjoy some of the region's best music talent. The day takes place on the first Friday and Saturday of August and begins at noon with a varied mix of music, food, art, crafts, family activities and inspiring prayers. BMX shows on Saturday and Sunday, an outdoor bike show on Sunday and an open day on Monday.
